Hi, I’m Jake – founder of Primitive Brood, a veteran-owned small business dedicated to creating natural skincare products you can trust.

Before starting Primitive Brood, I served as an Army Combat Medic and later a Nurse. That experience taught me the importance of clean, effective care and knowing exactly what’s going into the products we use—especially on our children. When my wife and I were expecting our baby girl, we were gifted a variety of baby lotions and diaper rash creams. Like most parents, we assumed they were
safe—until we started reading the labels.

What we found was disturbing: many conventional skincare products, even those labeled for infants, are filled with unnecessary chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and known irritants—some even linked to cancer, allergies, and hormone disruption. That didn’t sit right with us.

Through deep research and trial, we discovered the time-tested benefits of beef tallow-based skincare. Tallow is packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with essential fatty acids that are incredibly nourishing for the skin. But to ensure purity and ethical sourcing, we began crafting our own small-batch tallow balm using only non-toxic, natural ingredients.

We saw immediate improvement in our daughter’s skin. Ours improved too. Soon, friends and family were asking for jars, and that's when we realized: this wasn't just a solution for our home—it was a way to help others, too.

That’s how Primitive Brood was born out of love, research, and a desire to return to the basics. Today, our mission is simple: to provide clean, effective, tallow-based skincare that supports healthy skin for the whole family especially for parents seeking natural alternatives to toxic mainstream products.
